I am a Ph.D. physicist interested in teaching all levels and kinds of mathematics for any age, including: K-8 math, Algebra I&II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, & Calculus. I am as interested in working with students who are struggling as those who want to take their skills to higher levels. It does not matter to me if the student feels that he or she is not good at math or has just lost their way at a particular level. I approach each student and situation as a challenge. I want to help him or her determine what is in the way of their learning. When a student has not yet understood, I take that as a message to me to try a different teaching approach. My goal is to help the student acquire an intuitive understanding of mathematics so that it becomes as comfortable as any other skill he/she uses everyday. That comfort results when there is a solid grasp of fundamentals and an understanding of key concepts and methods. My style is always to be respectful and gracious. I am a big believer in visualization methods. I use software tools that helps students visualize the mathematics concepts that they are learning.
