I got my start as a tutor when I took a year away from academia after graduating high school, before attending college. During that time, I tutored other students in SAT prep. Although this subject is one that many college applicants dread, I actually enjoyed it. It was rewarding to watch my students improve and finally see these tests as something of a puzzle that they are to solve, instead of a chore. In the years since, I have worked as a teacher's assistant in an introductory chemistry class at Amherst College. I completed my degree in biochemistry and biophysics from that college as well, graduating magna cum laude. I'm currently pre-med and sending applications to a number of medical schools.My favorite subjects to tutor are in science, as I am particularly passionate about microbiology. I also tutor in chemistry, algebra, physics, math, and critical reading. I feel as though my ability to create a stimulating learning environment helps me as a tutor, as it ensures that my students get as much as possible from every lesson.When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy hiking, reading, sailing, and traveling. I currently reside in Annapolis, Maryland.
