Experience
I am a graduate student at St. John's College. I have worked with students from kindergarten all the way up to college. I have also worked as an instructional assistant at a community college Reading and Writing lab. When not studying classics, I love to teach writing. To me, clear, dynamic, and persuasive writing is vital for students who are college bound or aiming for a good job. Good writing skills also help in a variety of college entrance exams. A good foundation for any strong writer is a robust knowledge of mechanics and grammar. With these tools, any student can have the confidence to be creative and to succeed. I aim to help students put strong ideas into writing, helping them with the nuts and bolts like structure, mechanics, and style. My philosophy is to work with students, not to bark orders or to lecture. It's important to me that I put things into terms that all students understand, regardless of their skill level. When I'm not tutoring or working in the library at St. John's, I love to be active. Some of my favorite activities are exercising, hiking, and, when possible, travelling. Some of my other passions are Italian food, films, and reading (especially poetry).
