Hello! My name is Eric Newman, and I would be glad to aid you in any subject that you are trying to learn. My undergraduate degree is in Physics, and I am currently a graduate student at St. John's College in downtown Annapolis. I recently finished serving in the Air Force as an applied mathematician, after 7.5 years of Active Duty. I am comfortable tutoring in any subject. I have the most experience in math and can tutor in anything from basic math to advanced calculus and statistics. I am also passionate about reading comprehension and writing, and I love helping others in improving these skills. I believe that reading comprehension is perhaps the single most important skill that any student can master, since it allows the student to learn to teach themselves. My teaching philosophy is two-fold: 1. I help the student understand the concepts that underlie the subject they are studying. 2. I help the student learn how to become a self-learner over time. My experience is that once a student has a grasp of the underlying concepts and is comfortable with self-learning, the student will feel confident to tackle any subject and any problem.
